Overview

The Salem Express is a poignant and controversial wreck near Safaga. The passenger ferry sank in 1991 and lies on its starboard side at depths of 12-30 meters. It is a massive structure, but divers often remain on the exterior out of respect. The wreck attracts lionfish and moray eels. It serves as a somber reminder of maritime history. The Salem Express is 110m long and 18m wide.
