Overview
One of the most popular dive sites in Attica, known for its easy access and beautiful contour. The seabed follows a circular course starting at 3 meters and gradually deepening to 30 meters. It features a small cave with beautiful lighting effects and a rock formation rich in marine life. Great for training dives.
Access: From Lavrio or Keratea, follow the coastal road toward Thoriko to the base of Profitis Ilias. Just park your car before the shack. Entry is made directly from the shoreline into the water, following the circular course starting at 3 meters.
Marine life: Documented marine species observed at Profitis Ilias include dusky groupers (Epinephelus marginatus), greater amberjacks (Seriola dumerili), Mediterranean barracuda (Sphyraena viridensis).
Safety: Dives should be planned in accordance with local marine weather and surface swell conditions. Deploy a surface marker buoy when ascending in open water away from coastal rock formations.
