Overview

A popular shore-accessible reef near Lagonisi with impressive wall formations. Depths range from 3 to over 40 meters, hosting groupers, amberjacks, and colorful sponges. There is a nice swimthrough on the south side of the reef.

Access: Pothitos Reef is accessed by dive boat departing from local harbors in Regional Unit of East Attica, Attica. Dive boats anchor or secure to mooring lines above the site.

Marine life: Documented marine species observed at Pothitos Reef include Mediterranean moray eels (Muraena helena), dusky groupers (Epinephelus marginatus), greater amberjacks (Seriola dumerili), Mediterranean barracuda (Sphyraena viridensis), Mediterranean monk seals (Monachus monachus).

Safety: With maximum depths reaching 45.0 meters, this site requires Advanced Open Water or Technical certification. Divers must exercise disciplined gas planning, monitor depth progression closely along the drop-off, and strictly adhere to non-decompression limits.
