Overview

Famous as "divers bay," this site features a "well" or "devil's hole" at 11 meters depth that descends to nearly 30 meters. It connects to a cave system with a constant freshwater inflow. It is a primary training site and offers unique geological features for advanced divers.

Access: From Vouliagmeni, follow Leoforos Posidonos past the first cove. Roadside parking is available in pullouts above the 2nd Cove. Access is from the rocky coastal ledges leading directly into the cove basin. The primary underwater feature, The Well (Pigadi), begins at an opening on the rocky seabed at 11 meters depth.

Marine life: Documented marine species observed at Vouliagmeni 2nd Cove include Mediterranean monk seals (Monachus monachus).

Safety: Vouliagmeni 2nd Cove is strictly an Advanced Open Water dive when visiting The Well. Penetration beyond the protective bars at the bottom of the well (30m) into the cave system is dangerous, prohibited by law, and has resulted in multiple diver fatalities. A strong inward water suction into the karst siphon can develop during tidal changes.
