Overview

Legrena Car Wrecks is a unique artificial vehicle reef created between the 1970s and 1980s when dozens of decommissioned cars, vans, and chassis were rolled off the coastal highway cliffs into the sea. Resting on a sloping seabed between 15 and 35 meters depth, the oxidized metal frames have transformed into rich artificial reef habitats populated by moray eels, octopuses, and benthic invertebrates.

Access: Legrena - Car Wrecks is a shore dive accessible directly from the coastline of Regional Unit of East Attica, Attica. Divers enter the water from the rocky shore or beach.

Marine life: Documented marine species observed at Legrena - Car Wrecks include Mediterranean moray eels (Muraena helena), dusky groupers (Epinephelus marginatus), European conger eels (Conger conger).

Safety: With maximum depths reaching 45.0 meters, this site requires Advanced Open Water or Technical certification. Divers must exercise disciplined gas planning, monitor depth progression closely along the drop-off, and strictly adhere to non-decompression limits.
