Overview

Great spot for training dives with shallow rock formations. You can be lucky and spot a turtle or some octopus.

Access: Katafygi Bay 2 is situated in the same bay system as Katafygi Bay 1 at kilometer 47 of the Athens-Sounio road (EO91), approximately 150 meters south of Site 1. Access is from roadside pullouts along the coastal road, with direct shore entry into the cove to access the vertical wall and sandy basin.

Marine life: Documented marine species observed at Katafygi Bay 2 include encrusting sponges and yellow cluster anemones (Parazoanthus axinellae).

Safety: Dives should be planned in accordance with local marine weather and surface swell conditions. Deploy a surface marker buoy when ascending in open water away from coastal rock formations.
