Overview
The Shoan Maru (Chinsen) is a shallow, beginner-friendly WWII wreck dive located in Saipan's protected western Tanapag Lagoon at a depth of 9 to 12 meters. Nicknamed "The Aquarium," this 5,624-ton Japanese merchant ship was sunk by U.S. bombers in 1944 and is now completely covered in thriving corals. It features massive, swirling schools of reef fish, camouflaged stonefish, and sleeping whitetip reef sharks, making it ideal for novice divers and night diving.
Access: Boat access
Safety: Watch out for the submarine
